Filipino owned tobacco manufacturer Mighty Corp has been producing quality cigarettes for the past 70 years. It is also known as the oldest cigarette manufacturing in the country. Their product range is well known to Filipinos.
It was established in 1945 and was known as La Campana Fabrica de Tabacos, Incorporated. Owned by the Wong Chu King family and they started out with a small cigarette factory in Manila which they produced native cigarettes known as “matamis.”
Three years later, a second factory was built in Pasong Tamo, Makati. With the expansion of the company, a facility for tobacco threshing and redrying was constructed in 1963 in Malolos, Bulacan.
They have been handling American-style cigarettes such as Blue Seal Special, Mighty Filter Kings, Mighty Menthol 100’s, LA Menthol 100’s, LA Lights Menthol 100’s, Marvels Menthol 100’s, Marvels Filter Kings, Right Menthol 100’s and Right Filter Kings.
Also, they specializes in matamis and regaliz, two categories of Filipino-style ‘cigar-type’ cigarettes, a blend of dark, air-cured Philippine tobaccos principally sourced from the Cagayan and Isabela provinces where the stronger flavor tobacco is harvested.
During the early years of the company, they sold under the following brands: La Campana Matamis, Campanilla Matamis, Magkaibigan Matamis, Cortas La Campana, Rosalina Matamis and Corona Matamis. Just last year, they launched two types in the premium category: King and Chelsea.
